Deep in the Woods…
The moment I walked into Patch’s parents garden my jaw literally dropped.. it was one of the most amazing gardens I’d ever seen, and I’ve been lucky enough to photograph many wonderful garden weddings but this was another level, maybe helped that beyond the garden lay the thick forest of the National Trust in the South Downs. Mim and Patch were so warm and welcoming with a laid back approach to their celebrations that I felt as if I was a guest throughout. A couple of days before I went to see the preparations close up, there was the campsite in the woods with pitches and tents to erect, the forest disco dj set covered by a canvas roof held in place by the huge conifers, the army tent that would become the dining area and last but not least the discovery a tree that would be become a natural atrium for the ceremony. I couldn’t helped but be swept up in the romance of this (and the mind boggled how Patch would ever get the tree part up to the top of the garden, but succeed he did.) It was a beautiful occasion and I feel very grateful that they chose me to document their day. The forest dj set was just epic, I’ve never seen a disco ball so big in the woods before..fact. |
